TOOK PART IN THE CAMPAIGN TO SAVE ENVIRONMENT (MUKAM,NOKHA)

October 2^nd, I had visited Mukam Mela (Nokha). Mukam Mela is a holy fair of well known community and Eco warriors ‘Bishnois’. Mukam Mela is organized twice a year. Thousand of people from all over India and now these days some from other country had visited Mukam.

In my life It’s first time that I had been there. I had stayed there for three days and It’s a great opportunity for me to work with three doyens –

1. Khamu Ram Bishnoi :- Khamu ram is general secretary of “Prayavaran & Vanya Jeev Sanrakshan Sansthan (regd.). Khamu ram is organizing campaign against polythene since 2005. He had been collecting polythene from courtyard of Mela. He had visited paris several time as a High Level Speaker in many conference related to environment.

2. Franck Vogel :- Franck Vogel works as a freelance photojournalist on social and environmental issues for the international press (Paris Match, GEO, Le Monde Magazine, NRC Weekblad , Animan, Discovery Magazine). He had been visiting Bishnois Villages and Mukam Mela since 2007 and also made a documentary on Bishnois.

3. Rana Ram Bishnoi :- Tree friend Rana Ram Bishnoi is famous for having planted around 30000 trees in almost half a century.

At the Mukam we had planted trees around the temple and collected polythene which had thrown everywhere in the courtyard. We had put several dustbin in courtyard so that pilgrims or villager can put plastic in it. Villagers were doing good they promise us that they won’t use polythene bags next time. I had also visited Cattle Camp at Samrathal (1 KM away from Mukam) along with Khamu Ram, Franck Vogel and his friends from paris. It’s a camp where nearly about thousand of cows feed everyday. There are more then 70 cows, which are blind. There is also medical facility for them. On the other hand there is also a cell for deer where they have give treatment to deer’s which are injured by dog’s, other animal or from human.

At the end of third day we also organized a rally from Mukam To Samrathal so people will be more aware about environment. In this rally many people had participated and they promised us that they won’t use polythene and will plant more and more trees.

I was enthralled to be part of this campaign and trip to Mukam. I glad that I have a little bit contribution to save environment. We had promised that we will be back very soon with more friends. With a lot of memories and knowledge I have back to jaipur. It’s a trip with full of adventure, joy, and happiness.
